A few weeks ago I realised why I rarely sit in my armchair and wasn't bothered by it perpetually having laundry/sewing/etc dumped on it.  When I arranged my furniture I had a different neighbour. I raided the grotto on Sunday arvo to get a second cut out but unsewn shirt (blue) ... after a few too many years of not sewn I'm happy to pay a friend to assemble them. I'm bagging up stuff (supermarket reusable bags) to go back down to the storage room.  fabrics, bustle pads, sewing stuff, chemises, sheets (linen cupboard is down there), corset boning etc.  The supermarket bags are great for this cos I don't pack them too heavy for my tennis elbow to bitch over. :)    Although half of this doesn't have a ( Read more... )

When I got my UFO bustle petticoat out of storage I fetched up a UFO blouse that was partly sewn, after all it's faster to finish something than start from scratch.  When I took something back to said grotto I grabbed the mauve-pink linen I bought that faerie-mistress said I could get if I used it within 6 months.  I chucked both into my tote bag ( Read more... )

I've sweated like a veritable piglet and assembled the first pantry (of the recent delivery).   I was determined to get it all together, and thankfully when I got the replacement hinges for the original flatpacks the Bunnings lady just gave me bag of hardware. well it's been much longer than I'd admit in writing since the top of my dressing table was visible.  It had layers of sewing stuff, costume accessories etc that had to be sorted out (for my peace of mind).

I even took a photo as last-chael and faerie-mistress won't know what it looks like without the clutter on it.

We had an early bitterly cold snap last week. Cold enough to come home & dive into bed to keep warm, which equalled not getting anything done. Not finishing the mini spring clean, not making a chemisette, not cooking real meals.

Usually we get a suddenly cold single day, it bounces back to the then current temp then a few weeks later the temp drops ( Read more... )

I've either got some gastro bug or it's the HS doing the purging, but I've had a very quiet day at home. I did do 3 loads of washing but that's about it.  I found the quilting book I got years ago in Hamilton, NZ when over on hols.  I'm going to cut up the shirts/blouses that no longer suit me (if they ever did!) and the scraps from my scrap tubs ( Read more... )

I didn't know my job was going to get signoff so quickly & signed up immediately (ie transfer from the temp agency to payroll, with the payroll start date being the day before I signed the letter).

So I'd already spent money on eBay that I wouldn't have spent if I'd known.  Not that I'm wildly upset over it I have to admit.
